About
Kentucky
Kentucky is located west of the Appalachian Mountains, just north of Tennessee. The state is known for its thoroughbred horse racing industry and has many horse farms and racetracks which hold regular contests. Kentucky is also the largest producer of bourbon, which is a distinctly American product. There are several natural and historic attractions in the state, including state parks, lakes, rivers, Civil War battlefields, and Native American historic sites.
Louisville is well known for horse racing. The city is the site of the legendary Kentucky Derby thoroughbred racing event, which is part of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. Regular races at Churchill Downs track and the two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival, which begins with the Thunder Over Louisville fireworks show, provide great entertainment to residents and visitors.
Lexington is a vibrant city located in Kentucky’s scenic Bluegrass Region. Several horse farms are located in and around Lexington, as is the 1,200-acre (4.9 km2) Kentucky Horse Park. Just outside the center of the city, there are bourbon distilleries with tours and historical information on the development of the bourbon industry. The city is also home to the University of Kentucky.
Kentucky real estate includes grand, luxurious homes, equestrian estates, historic neighborhoods, and urban townhouses in close proximity to universities and entertainment. Mountain and lakefront properties provide even more choices for vacation and investment properties.
