About
Maryland
Maryland is a small state on the eastern coast of the United States. The state offers many types of activities, from sailing on the Chesapeake Bay to the entertainment found in downtown Baltimore. Like much of the East Coast, Maryland enjoys warm and humid summers and wet winters with some snow, especially in the mountainous regions. Boating, fishing, and sailing are popular along the coast, with historic sites scattered across the state.
Baltimore, sometimes called “Charm City,” is located in central Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. The city has many distinctive neighborhoods and cultural venues, including several stages, museums, and historical attractions. Professional sports include baseball, football, soccer, and lacrosse, and several university teams attract large audiences too.
Ocean City is one of the most popular places on the Maryland coast and attracts approximately 8 million visitors annually. Ocean City is an ideal place for beach activities, sailing, kayaking, surfing, and golf. There are 15 golf courses in the Ocean City area. A 10-mile (16 km) beachfront and a 3-mile (4.8 km) boardwalk showcase a number of restaurants and shops. Ocean City is also home to the largest white marlin fishing tournament in the country.
Maryland real estate reflects the diversity of its regions, and includes urban townhouses in the Baltimore-Washington, DC, metropolitan area, waterfront resorts in the southern and eastern coastal regions, and mountain and ski properties in the west.
