About
Massachusetts
Massachusetts was one of the first settlements in America and has many sites of historical significance. The state is also a leader in higher education, health care technology, and financial services.
Boston is the state’s largest city and is a major harbor. It is the site of Harvard University and the headquarters for several major corporations. Boston has several championship-winning professional sports teams. It also hosts several famous annual events, including the Boston Marathon and the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.
Cape Cod is a popular weekend destination, especially for residents of the northeastern United States. There are more than 60 public beaches, many bays and inlets, and several annual boating events. Cape Cod also has a number of historic sites, including lighthouses.
Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, along with Newport, RI, are just south of Cape Cod and have a very similar atmosphere. Beaches and various bodies of water make it easy to pursue boating and other water sports. The area also has a number of scenic places and historic districts.
Massachusetts real estate includes historic brownstones along cobblestone streets, condominiums with harbor views, beach houses, golf course communities, and more. The “Cape Cod” house style is known and copied throughout the country and is based on the simple, symmetrical, colonial-style houses common throughout Massachusetts.
