New Jersey
New Jersey is located on the northeastern coast of the United States. It is best known for its proximity to the large northeastern cities of New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. New Jersey is called the “Garden State” and is the nation’s second-largest producer of blueberries, third-largest for cranberries and spinach, and fourth-largest for bell peppers, peaches, and head lettuce, along with several other crops.
New Jersey is a popular residential area for people who commute to work in New York City and Philadelphia. Many of the city’s suburbs have populations of less than 100,000, but these towns and small cities are densely packed together. A few of the better-known towns include Edison, Woodbridge Township, and Trenton, which is the state capital.
The shoreline, commonly called the “Jersey Shore,” is a popular summer destination for many residents of the northeastern United States. Atlantic City is a popular destination on the Jersey Shore. Sometimes called the “Las Vegas of the East,” it is best known for its multiple casinos and gambling parlors and its entertainment offerings, including shows, concerts, and nightclubs.
