South Dakota State Capitol

South Dakota is a mountainous state in the northern United States. The state is bisected by the Missouri River, making each half of the state socially and geographically distinct. The state is mostly rural and has several natural attractions, including Badlands National Park in the west, Falls Park in Sioux Falls in the southeast, and the famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The state also has a strong Native American influence, especially from the large Sioux tribes that have lived in the area.

Sioux Falls is the largest city in South Dakota. Here, outdoor activities abound. The city has a plethora of fishing lakes ranging in size from very small to 29,000 acres (116 km2). Outside the city, hunting lodges, golf courses, and state parks exhibit the best of South Dakota natural scenery. Within the city, shopping, wineries, and events create a fun and active lifestyle for residents.
